Equipment

  • tall glass
  • muddler
  • citrus juicer
  • bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 medium lime, juiced
  • 1 to 2 tbsp simple syrup, to taste
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 3/4 cup chilled sparkling water or club soda
  • lime wedges, for garnish
  • fresh mint sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  • Add the mint leaves, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to a tall glass.
  • Gently muddle the mint 4 to 6 times, just until fragrant. Don’t crush it too hard.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  • Pour chilled sparkling water or club soda over the ice.
  • Stir gently from the bottom of the glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh mint sprig.
  • Serve right away while cold and bubbly.

Notes

For a sweeter Virgin mojito recipe, use 2 tablespoons of simple syrup. For a sharper, more citrusy drink, add an extra squeeze of lime. For a fruit version, muddle in sliced strawberries, blueberries, mango puree, or pineapple juice before adding ice.
