Ingredients

  • cups unsweetened almond or coconut milk
  • tsp ground turmeric (or 2 inches fresh turmeric, grated)
  • ½ tsp ground ginger (or 1-inch fresh ginger, grated)
  • ½ tsp coconut oil or ghee
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the milk, turmeric, ginger, coconut oil or ghee, black pepper, and optional cinnamon to a small saucepan.
  • Heat gently over medium heat, stirring often, until warm and fragrant. Do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup if using.
  • Strain if using fresh turmeric or ginger, then pour into mugs.
  • Serve warm, or froth with a whisk or milk frother for a golden milk latte.

Notes

Always include black pepper and a source of fat to improve curcumin absorption. Avoid boiling to preserve nutrients. You can strain the drink if using fresh turmeric or ginger. Sweeten lightly or enjoy unsweetened for bedtime.
