Equipment

  • small saucepan
  • wooden spoon or whisk
  • citrus juicer
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • large pitcher
  • measuring cups
  • serving glasses

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5 to 7 lemons)
  • 3/4-1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for sugar syrup)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/2-3/4 cup strawberry syrup, raspberry syrup, cranberry juice, grenadine, or pink lemonade syrup
  • ice
  • lemon slices (optional)
  • fresh strawberries or raspberries (optional)
  • mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the sugar and 1 cup water to a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
  • Juice the lemons until you have 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain out any seeds and excess pulp.
  • Pour the fresh lemon juice into a large pitcher and add the cooled sugar syrup.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup of your preferred pink coloring ingredient such as strawberry syrup, raspberry syrup, cranberry juice, grenadine, or pink lemonade syrup.
  • Add the 4 cups of cold water and stir well until fully combined.
  • Taste and adjust by adding more cold water, lemon juice, or syrup as desired for flavor and color.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill before serving.
  • Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices, fresh berries, or mint if desired.

Notes

Variations: For a kid-friendly version, use strawberry syrup and add an extra 1/2 cup cold water. For old fashioned pink lemonade, use raspberry syrup or cranberry juice. For rose lemonade, replace the berry syrup with 2 to 3 tablespoons rose syrup or 1/4 teaspoon rose water. For sparkling pink lemonade, use 3 cups cold water and add 1 to 2 cups sparkling water just before serving.
Storage: Store in a covered pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Stir well before serving.
